POS (Plan d'Occupation des Sols)

The POS is a document that can be consulted at the Town Hall, which sets out the town planning rules applicable to the territory of a municipality and enables its development to be organised and planned. As a purchaser, it provides a means of finding out whether or not a plot of land is suitable for building and indicates the future destination of each plot of land in the municipality. It is drawn up at the initiative of the municipalities, but the law does not oblige them to have such a document.
