An innovative partnership between EOL and Les Nouvelles Fermes

EOL has signed an unprecedented partnership with Les Nouvelles Fermes to develop agricultural and fish farming production on logistics and industrial sites in France.

"It's an exceptional and revolutionary project that reconciles property developments that are sometimes disparaged with the production of pesticide-free food in short circuits. Over an 18-month period, we studied all the AgriTech solutions available to enhance the outdoor areas of logistics sites and make them useful for the local environment. The concept developed by Les Nouvelles Fermes seems to us to be the most appropriate, because it enables us to ensure significant agricultural and fish farming production, without pesticides, on small areas of land. It's also a way of developing diversified jobs and encouraging social integration".
says Laurent Sabatucci, Chairman of EOL.

"Les Nouvelles Fermes is a French start-up in the Social and Solidarity Economy, at the crossroads between market gardening, agro-industry and start-ups. Their aim is to help people get back in touch with "eating well" by offering resilient, inclusive and responsible agriculture. The company is developing an inventive and unique concept: it is the first network of aquaponic farms in France, and these make it possible to produce large quantities of vegetables and fish without the use of synthetic phytosanitary products. These innovative facilities include one of the largest aquaponics farms in Europe, located in Mérignac.

Aquaponics is an ancestral form of farming based on a closed-circuit production system that combines the rearing of fish in symbiosis with the cultivation of plants. Les Nouvelles Fermes has revived this technique, which requires no synthetic fertiliser or antibiotic treatment, and is perfectly suited to intensive production. A 5,000 m² aquaponic farm can produce up to 60 tonnes of vegetables and 15 tonnes of rainbow trout a year, in a virtuous process that protects the environment and promotes the local economy."says Thomas BOISSERIE, Chairman and co-founder of Les Nouvelles Fermes.

After being the first company to launch a decarbonisation initiative for logistics warehouses in 2016, EOL is delighted to be taking a new step forward.is delighted to be taking a new, innovative step towards reconciling the development of commercial property with short-distance agricultural production.
